LUMPIA PALOOZA 3 AT SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY 12/1
The third installment of the annual Filipino American concert series,
LUMPIA PALOOZA takes place Friday evening, December 1 at
San Diego State University, Montezuma Hall in the Aztec Center.
Presented by San Diego State University’s Andres Bonifacio Samahan,
LUMPIA PALOOZA 3 will once again feature a unique blend of
live performances with originally produced music videos.

This year’s showcase will be headlined by the BASCO BROS
(“THE DEBUT”, “BIKER BOYZ”), four siblings mostly known for
their Hollywood roles. Accompanied by a live band, Dante, Darion,
Dion, and Derek will unleash their music on stage. Female turntablist
and community activist DJ KUTTIN KANDI also headlines, bringing her
Brooklyn beats and spoken word to the West Coast. Other performers

include the rock band INVID, Las Vegas-based EARTHTONES,
vocalist JANICE ARANAS, the youth group THOSE KIDS, hip-hop
talent POWER STRUGGLE, local R&B artist DANE, and the San Diego
dance crew SELECT FEW. Comedy troupe ABALOS PROS will host.

of the group and experiencing the ambushes of each band member
throughout the night with the hope of witnessing a live reunion.

CONCERT WRAP-UP

WHAT A WEEKEND! LUMPIA PALOOZA 2 is finally in the books and
wow, what a show. This year's concert definitely was captivating with
probably the most heart-warming ending ever! In case you missed it,
here's your ultimate wrap-up with photos provided by Sthanlee B. Mirador:

A BIGGER EVENT IN A BIGGER VENUE!
This year's installment was again hosted by Roslynn of Third Floor
Radio. Beating last year's concert attendance, LUMPIA PALOOZA 2
in South San Francisco was bigger, not just in venue size but in the
amount of TALENT performing!

Local Bay Area artists FUSION, FATIMA, VERSE, KIM del FIERRO,
BAYSICK ENTERTAINMENT, beatbox champion LEEJAY, and
SoCal's NATIVE GUNS jumpstarted the FIRST HALF of the show.


American Idol finalist CAMILE VELASCO then headlined the event
alongside Chicago's rap trio THE PACIFICS, 6th DAY, and Southern
California's MANGO PIRATES.

FIL-AM BANDS REUNITED 2 STEALS THE SHOW!
Despite the great performances, it was this year's FIL-AM BANDS
REUNITED segment produced by the LUMPIA crew that stole not only
the show but every concertgoer's heart. After last year's failed attempt
to reunite BUFFY and the KANDEE GIRLZ, the LUMPIA crew finally
celebrated their FIRST EVER successful reunion at LUMPIA PALOOZA 2.
Video segments depicting the ambushes played throughout the night
before revealing the LIVE REUNION performance on stage. The auditorium
erupted in ecstacy as the reunited band performed the final show they
never had. So, who were they???

Unfortunately, only the concertgoers will know as we're going to have to
save this moment for the DVD release of LUMPIA PALOOZA 2 this
November. I know, we're such a tease....

WORLD PREMIERE of NEW MUSIC VIDEOS @ PALOOZA 2
XYLOPHONE FILMS and the LUMPIA crew presented the WORLD
PREMIERE of brand new music videos at LP2. One of those videos
6TH DAY “U Want Me” will premiere on the MYX channel in the
Philippines starting September 1. "U Want Me" features the return
of LUMPIA villain, TYRONE. Stay tuned for the online premieres of
the other videos SOON!

All of us here want to thank the entire concert crew, who made LUMPIA
PALOOZA 2 one of the best productions we have ever put together as
a team. We also have to give it up to Drea and the Bands Reunited
crew for providing us honestly one of the most touching moments we've
ever witnessed. The concluding reunion and the raw emotion that came
out of that is something no one can create or plan. Thank you LeRoid
and Tower Records for providing the in-store and to RedFiveOnline for

give props to the crew who worked on all our music videos in the Bay

The "LUMPIA" 2004 Recap: HAPPY NEW YEAR!


What can we say, LUMPIA lovers? 2004 will be a hard year to let go.
It was for us, a year of accomplishment and of milestone... of the impossible
becoming reality... of support and unity. Before we say goodbye, here's
a quick and brief recap of 2004, "THE YEAR OF LUMPIA"...

JANUARY 2004
The LUMPIA crew kicks off 2004 by shooting their first ever music video,
a 2 weekend shoot with InnerVoices and actress Joy Bisco that would
spawn 2 videos "U Don't Have 2 Worry" and "S-O-S". The experience
would create a fascination with the music video medium.

FEBRUARY 2004
The hype over LUMPIA in 2003 spills over to the first screening of 2004
where LUMPIA debuts in Philadelphia. The highlight? The Black Eyed
Peas notify LUMPIA director Patricio Ginelsa by phone in Europe that
they LOVE his "Apl Song" video script and want to fund the video. The
"Philly" crowd is the first to know!

MARCH 2004
Proceeds from 2003 LUMPIA merchandise/ticket sales are used to fund the
CD Soundtrack for LUMPIA, which in turn helps out the musicians and
funds the upcoming LUMPIA DVD. The CD debuts on the TOP FIVE of
best selling CDs at Tower Records Stonestown in San Francisco.

APRIL 2004
LUMPIA makes its CANADA premiere at Toronto's ReelWorld Film
Festival, as well as premieres in Iowa City, Utah, and Michigan.

On April 16, LUMPIA spawned its first ever concert in San Francisco
appropriately named LUMPIA PALOOZA, featuring a Fil-Am Bands
Reunited segment in search of Buffy and the Kandee Girlz.

April ends with the LUMPIA crew traveling to Chicago. There, they
premiere the movie and they shoot their next music video with the
PACIFICS. The video "Especialty" would later become a film festival hit!

MAY 2004
After LUMPIA premieres in Seattle and Las Vegas, the LUMPIA crew
shoot "The APL Song" music video with the world famous Black Eyed
Peas in an amazing 2 day shoot featuring an all-Star Filipino American cast.

JULY 2004
Frustrated by the lack of U.S. airplay, the LUMPIA crew starts an e-mail
campaign to request "the APL Song" video on MTV's Total Request Live.
The Internet is taken by storm as thousands answer the call and vote
on July 26. A group of hardcore supporters show up in front of MTV
Studios to wave signs of support. The video did not air that day, but is
acknowledged by MTV VJ Vanessa Minnillo. A week later, MTV will
air 5 seconds of the "APL Song" video.


AUGUST 2004
The Black Eyed Peas return home to Los Angeles from a world tour
to be greeted by hardcore supporters at their "APL Song" Video Industry
Premiere. The video's main star, Marion Ginelsa is too sick to attend.

The following weekend, he passes away peacefully at the age of 83. The
LUMPIA crew discovers that Marion is really a WWII veteran.

NOVEMBER 2004
After screenings in Washington, D.C. and again in Chicago, LUMPIA
ends its tour with a final premiere in VIRGINIA. On November 23, LUMPIA and LUMPIA PALOOZA is released on DVD in grand style with a packed
Release Party at Tower Records Stonestown in San Francisco. After
2 days in release, LUMPIA becomes the NUMBER ONE selling DVD
in that store, beating mainstream hits such as Harry Potter 3 and
Spider-Man 2. The LUMPIA DVD is self-distributed in stores all over
the U.S. where sales continue to do well. The "ULTIMATE HOME
MADE MOVIE" has ended its journey.

SO WHAT'S NEXT?...
We see in our 2005 crystal ball some cloudy visions of some more
music videos, indie and mainstream perhaps? Hmmmmm. I see
LUMPIA PALOOZA 2 with another Fil-Am Bands Reunited and oh no!
Who's that performing? It can't be... but it is! I also see another DVD
release in November. Oh my! The LUMPIA crew is distributing THAT
Filipino movie? And I see something brewing in that LUMPIA
kitchen. They're cooking it in 2005 but the details are very blurry.
I don't see that unwrapping until 2006 maybe?

The details are coming soon so STICK WITH US!

Attention LUMPIA Lovers worldwide,

It is time to get up, unite, and show your pride. The LUMPIA crew is starting an e-mail campaign like no other and it all begins with YOU! As you know, the LUMPIA crew directed and produced the latest Black Eyed Peas music video, "The Apl Song". Although the music video has been well-received in the Philippines with countless airplay, it has yet to debut in the country it was created in, the U.S. Since the song's chorus is sung in Tagalog the
native Philippine language, the chances of the video hitting American TV
sets are slim. Our job is TO CHANGE THAT!

On Monday, July 26, the number one video on MTV's Total Request Live will be "The Apl Song". Impossible? Only if you don't do YOUR part. Here's what you have to do:

STEP ONE: WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO
Log online to either one of the following websites:

Starting FRIDAY, JULY 9, both websites will carry "The Apl Song" music
video online. Mirror sites will also be established. The video boasts a
who's who of Filipino-American celebrities in the movie and music industry. Playing the grandson in the video is Chad Hugo, one half of the mega-
producing team the Neptunes. Actors Dante Basco (THE DEBUT, HOOK)
and Joy Bisco (Port Charles, Not Another Teen Movie) also make cameos, alongside DJ Rhettmatic of the Beat Junkies.

STEP TWO: SPREAD THE WORD
We all got two weeks to spread the message. Forward this email. Forward
the link to the music video. Create and personalize your own email and make sure all your friends get the message. Go to online forums, message boards, chat rooms, and let them know about the video. Be creative! Tell all of your family, friends, and THEIR family and friends and let them know why this is important. Who's down? Black Eyed Peas "THE APL SONG" will NOT be listed on the website.
You must scroll below and under "OTHER", manually input "The Black Eyed Peas" under Artist Name and "The Apl Song" under Video Title. Fill out section 2 and submit. WALA! You just did all of us proud. So why not
go back and VOTE AGAIN?! While you're at it, vote 3 times, even 5. The
more the merrier! Keep in mind, "THE APL SONG" is not scheduled to
play on MTV on July 26 UNLESS WE VOTE FOR IT!

WHY JULY 26?
After watching the video, you'll have a better understanding of the underlying issue brought up in "The Apl Song" video. July 26 will be the 63rd year anniversary of the induction of the Filipino military organizations to fight in WWII under the U.S. flag. On July 26, 1941, President Roosevelt issued an Executive Order calling members of the Philippine Commonwealth Army into the service of the United States Armed Forces of the Far East . Under this order, Filipinos were entitled to full veterans' benefits. More than 100,000 Filipinos volunteered for the Philippine
Commonwealth Army and fought alongside the United States armed forces. Today, some of these proud veterans have yet to be acknowledged and yet to receive their full benefits. For more information, please visit http://www.fullequitynow.com

Various organizations such as the Student Action for Veterans Equity are also holding their own events that day in recognition of our war veterans. "THE PACIFICS" MUSIC VIDEO
We're at it again with another brand new music video,
this time from Chicago's own rap group "the PACIFICS".
The video is for their single "Especialty" featured in the
LUMPIA CD Soundtrack. Take a tour of the Windy City
with KP, Strike3, and Norman Rockwell in a raw, exciting
video taking you "back to the days of boom bap".

We think it's time to reveal what I've been hiding the past few

BLACK EYED PEAS. Yes, YOURS TRULY is the director
of one of the upcoming music videos for music superstars
will.i.am, Taboo, apl.de.ap, and Fergie of BEP. "Where Is
The Love"?, "Shut Up", "Hey Mama", "Let's Get It Started"
will be followed by (drums roll please)… "THE APL SONG".
